During the parks' busy season (April-November), GDPI offers a kaleidoscope of over 80 FREE Arts & Culture programs! Whether your passion lies in music, dance, or visual arts, there's a program waiting to spark your artistic flame. So come explore, express yourself, and be part of something special at Greensboro Downtown Parks!

ARTIST HAPPY HOUR WITH THE ARTS COUNCIL OF GREATER GREENSBORO

Select Wednesdays: 5/29, 7/31, 8/28 | 5 - 7 PM

Who is this event for? Local college students studying art, Discipline groups and arts businesses, & Artists and arts administrators of all types and disciplines! Grab a drink from Lawn Service and get ready to meet local working artists and arts administrators, promote your organization, and connect with fellow creatives and industry professionals to exchange ideas and resources. Feel free to bring flyers, business cards, or any other promotional materials (please keep size to 8.5x11 inches or less) to drop off at the resource exchange table.

BLUEGRASS AND BRUNCH WITH LAWN SERVICE BY LITTLE BROTHER BREWING

Every 1st and 3rd Sunday, April 7 - November 17 | 11 AM - 1 PM

Brunch just got better with bluegrass! Join us every 1st and 3rd Sunday at Lawn Service for Bluegrass and Brunch, a delicious and delightful way to start your day. Indulge in mouthwatering brunch bites from local vendors, sure to satisfy those Sunday cravings. Sit back and sway to live bluegrass music by the region’s finest artists. Good vibes and sunshine (hopefully!) will make it the perfect Sunday Funday. So grab your friends, family, and appetite and bring it to the parks this Sunday!

CREATIVE REUSE AND REPLAY WITH RECONSIDERED GOODS

First Fridays, April 5 - November 1 | 6 PM - 8 PM

LeBauer Park, UNCG Great Lawn


Get crafty with recycled treasures at Creative Reuse & Replay with Reconsidered Goods! Unleash your inner artist at this free community pop-up makerspace open to people of all ages. Peruse through a wonderland of reused and repurposed materials: corks, bottle caps, fabric scraps, ribbons, stamps, and more! RG staff will be there to ignite your creativity with project ideas and samples, but the possibilities are endless- so let your imagination run wild. Build, tinker, and create unique masterpieces using items given a second life, all while diverting waste from landfills.

GSOul with the collective gso

Get ready to immerse yourself in the urban art scene with GSOul, the powerhouse of street culture! Calling all dancers, artists, musicians, skaters, and gamers: this series of astounding activations is aimed just for you. The Collective GSO’s crew tapped into the soul of Greensboro’s hip hop culture and planned a 3-part program series that highlights its major elements: visual art (GSOul: Attack on Canvas), dance cyphers (GSOul: The Get Down), and skating (GSOul: Gate City Skate). Special guest HQ Gaming Lounge will bring his mobile gaming unit to the parks on select activations! Introducing:


GSOul: The Get Down

The Get Down is your favorite street party brought to the heart of downtown! Experience open dance cyphers and specific dance style workshops led by the city’s top hip hop dancers to the beats of local DJs and music artists.


GSOul: Attack on Canvas

Attack on Canvas will break down the essentials of street art, host epic art battles, lead guided drawing sessions and paint & sip nights in the downtown parks!


GSOul: Gate City Skate

Select Fridays: 6/28, 7/19, 8/23 | 5:30 PM - 7 PM

Great Lawn, LeBauer Park


BYO skates and bear witness as LeBauer Park transforms into an outdoor roller rink! Skate through the park to your favorite hits of the past and present. Signing a waiver upon arrival is required for all skaters.


Get artsy, get urban, and join the movement with GSOul!





MODULAR ON THE SPOT WITH MOTS GSO

Every 2nd Sunday, April - October* | 5 PM - 7 PM

*In September, MOTS will meet on 9/15 instead of 9/8


Join us at Modular on the Spot Greensboro for a free afternoon of Modular Synthesizer music, showcasing talented musicians from across the country. Grab a blanket, bring a friend, and immerse yourself in a sonic experience. These outdoor events are exclusively modular and always free. Originally born in LA, California, this event has now spread to major cities worldwide, such as Seattle, Philadelphia, and Asheville. It's a family-friendly gathering, open to all ages. @motsgso

MUSIC IN A BOTTLE WITH LAWN SERVICE BY LITTLE BROTHER BREWING

Join our friends at Lawn Service by Little Brother Brewing to eat, drink, and enjoy free, live music featuring local and regional artists. With great tunes and weekly 1/2 off wine bottle special, this is the perfect opportunity to grab some friends and unwind after work.

NOCHES LATINAS WITH CASA AZUL AND MARIA GONZALEZ

Join Casa Azul & Maria Gonzalez every First Friday, May - October, for a vibrant celebration of Latin culture through dance. Our friendly guest instructors will guide you through the basics of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and more, making you feel welcome and comfortable on the dance floor. By 7:30 PM, the social dance party begins, inviting everyone to move and groove to infectious Latin rhythms. More than just a dance: Noches Latinas is about community. It's a space to connect with others who share your love for Latin culture, celebrate your heritage, and showcase the vibrant contributions of Latinos to Greensboro.






SPRING COMMUNITY COLLAGE WITH L.MCKENNA ART

Select Sundays: 4/7, 4/14, 4/28, 5/5* | 2 - 4 PM

Seasonal Plaza, LeBauer Park


*L.McKenna Art will also lead this program during Spring Blooming on 4/5 from 6-9 PM


A free community art project is coming to LeBauer Park! Together, we'll create a collaborative collage that tells the story of what this park means to our community. Everyone is invited to contribute a 5x5 inch cardstock scene using acrylic paint, recycled materials, or anything that reflects their experience at LeBauer Park. Local artist Lily, of L.McKenna Art (formerly McKenna's Art), will provide inspiration with sample pieces and helpful instruction. Ultimately, we hope to find a permanent or temporary home for our masterpiece in LeBauer Park! Let's join forces and create a vibrant tribute to this beloved community space.
