Happy summer everybody! Many of us are out enjoying car trips with our dogs. Did you know that Megan Blake, The Pet Lifestyle Coach®, is an Official Pet Travel Expert and has traveled over 200,000 miles with her pets! Yes! She was an Official Pet Travel Expert Nationally for State Farm Insurance and for Toyota!
So here are four of her Top Travel Tips for dogs. And check out her cute video below from Malibu, CA with Super Smiley and Angel talking about.
Here are Megan’s Top Pet Travel Safety Tips
1. Did you know that if you have a fender bender at 30mph, a 50 pound dog will impact with 2,400 pound of force? Yes! So it's important to keep your dog secured with a travel harness and tether or in a tethered crate. See Megan’s video for more info.
2. Train ‘em to ride in the back seat, and they will be thrilled to go! I know they love to ride in the front, but if a deployed airbag can fatally harm a child, think what it can do to your dog! So train ‘em to ride in the back. They will love to be included anyplace in the car with you!
3. Be sure to offer them water every hour or so, and give them plenty of breaks out of the car. And, if they are on medication, remember to take that along too.
4. And never leave your dog unattended in a car, or in a hot car, ever! They can be at risk of overheating and of being stolen!
