Courage.
You may not “see” it, but it is there.
Every day.
It can become habit to see others by simply looking on the surface. It may appear that they have it all together and face challenges with ease.
We may see others struggling. Really clawing their way through each day. It may look messy and wreckless.
None of us truly know the monsters that anyone is facing each day. Big or small. Dark and looming. Small and constant.
In my 20+ year career as a social worker and now as a health coach, I work from a strengths-based approach with my clients.
I approach each person with the awareness that they have had to find ways that have worked for them to push forward, fight off the monsters and put one foot in front of the other. For many this battle is won each day, for others it is a cycle that feels defeating and exhausting.
It is with immense courage that they keep stepping into the fight, valiant and strong even when they would not describe themselves that way.
The daily (sometimes hourly) summoning of courage is a strength. It is a strategy. It is a survival tactic.
How do you call upon the courage you need each day?
How do you stare down the monsters in your way?
Know that each step forward happens because of the strength, courage and resilience within you.
Call upon your inner strength. Call upon a friend. Call upon a resource in the community that can help you use your courage for continued healing and wholeness in your life.
