Break out those dancing shoes and come shake your groove thing with us! National Dance Day GSO is an annual celebration of coming together through dance. Join professional dancers representing a variety of cultural styles and genres on the dance floor to learn from and dance alongside one another. Food trucks and vendors will also be on-site, adding to the festival feel as we dance together under strands of international flags and Janet Echelman’s aerial sculpture, Where We Met.

New this year! In conjunction with the North Carolina Dance Festival's 30th season, Dance Project will present a moment of connection across the state. Join us as we pass a “movement wave” from one end of the state to the other on National Dance Day! People of all ages and abilities are invited to join in the guided movement as we learn what it really means to connect with others through dance. Click here to learn more!

Covid safety: Masks are strongly encouraged among those who are unvaccinated. We're anticipating this to be a busy event where social distancing may not be possible at all times, so please do what is best to keep you and your loved ones well.

Community Dance Choreography!
Follow along with instructors from Dance Project to learn this year's Community Dance! Practice your moves at home and join us on National Dance Day to participate in the Community Dance Performance at 5pm. Want to rehearse with us? Join us at LeBauer Park's South Lawn on Fridays, August 27, September 3, and September 10 at 6pm to practice the choreography together.

Join us for the stunning premier performance of A Wicked Silence. Immerse yourself in the personal stories of the history and impact of the Eugenics program in North Carolina. The performance will begin in Carolyn’s Garden in LeBauer Park and move throughout various locations in both downtown parks, setting a new scene for each act of the narrative. Audiences should come with an open mind and willingness to engage deeply with this powerful artistic work.
